Hello Jimmy. We're all good. We've moved to Ecruteak - I think they're happy to have a house they can consider theirs. It hasn't needed any repairs, but the locals seem to think it's unlucky. [ No, they think it's haunted as fuq and that Walter is a ghost. ]

Yeah, it is pretty close. Hell, I just ended up in Goldenrod 'cause Ib...she was like my little sister. Anyway, she had the house I live in now, she and a friend of hers. But he left, and she was young. Like ten. She didn't wanna be alone in a house, and I didn't want her being alone. So I moved in. Then she left, too, so the house went to me. It's the first real house I ever lived in.
Uh, yeah, like...tropic island party? I guess? I dunno, I used to uh...entertain ladies at tupperware parties and half of'em were luau themed.
I was in Golderod for a while. [ But he's gone now. He decides to ignore the implications behind 'entertaining' ladies and focuses on Assumption. ]
He's perfect. He's so...so good. I never had anyone like him before. A friend. [ He murmurs the last part very quietly. Assumption is his friend. His tone alone reveals just how much that means to him. ]
I dunno. I mean, I don't know if I really count as an orphan. My dad's still alive, he just...wasn't around. Ever. Both my folks were freaks like me, but my dad could pass. Even better than me. He didn't want a kid who was visibly a freak, so he left me and my mom when I was a baby. My mom ended up...not doing great and I went where every little freak goes. The orphanage.
But Miss Elsa found me there and took me back to her show, and I found my mom again when I was sixteen.
She's gone now, but I was in my twenties. I'm like half-orphan.
[ There's quiet as Walter takes it all in. Then he closes his eyes. ]
My parents left me after I was born - I never met them. I was found by the person in charge of the apartment building, given to a hospital and then the Order took me in. They gave me my name.
Nobody came to the Orphanage. I ran away when I was sixteen. I ended up going back.
I ain't surprised. Shit, if Miss Elsa wasn't collecting freaks....
It's like the sanitariums and shit. Nobody wants to see'em, nobody wants to think about'em. Who gives a shit what's happening to the kids inside? They're kids nobody wants, right? Let'em rot.
[There's a bitter tone in Jimmy's voice that doesn't often show up these days.]

[ He doesn't stop his own tone turning dark. He understood Jimmy's anger. It's the same anger he had nursed for so many years, the same anger that was currently flaring up in his chest. Granted, the boys had wanted to know about the Order. They hadn't cared about anything else that had happened there. ]
Of course it was. I'm pretty sure the people who work in these places, they do it 'cause they want to have power over defenseless victims who can't do anything about it.
Why the fuck would anybody want to hear about that kinda stuff? There's a reason I don't ever talk about it, shit.
They were interested in 'horror' stories. That's all it was for them. Another story. They wanted me to show them the Devil and teach them how to do the rituals the priests did with us. [ He drew his knees to his chest, curling up. ]
They didn't care about me. They just wanted to know about what had happened to me.
We had this guy, he was a normal guy. Rich and shit, too. He wanted to join the Freak Show. The way he talked...yeah, he made it sound like it was some cool story or some shit. An adventure.
Yeah, it's a hell of an adventure when cops can kill you just 'cause they hate freaks and get a fucking medal for it.
That sounds the same as my world. They didn't care about the children who went... missing. It's like...it wasn't real to them. Or it just didn't matter.
I hated them. I hated that it had hurt so much but it wasn't wrong. It just...was.
It's ignorance. People don't get it, or don't give a shit if they do. They don't have to see it, they don't have to deal with it. They can ignore it and say 'oh that's awful' from their nice houses but like hell they'll do anything.
It wasn't ignorance. They knew. They heard us crying at night. They only complained because it disturbed them. [ Walter didn't know that people had complained, only to have been driven off by the Order. But then again, the police and authorities hadn't gotten involved at any point either. ]
