[ Hello! You have reached: "Walter Sullivan". Unfortunately they cannot answer the phone right now. Leave a message after the beep and they will return your call. ]
[Well, Asriel thinks, as long as she doesn't mind them, and they don't bother her, and Walter's okay with it...who's he to say she should put them back?]
Oh, um, maybe in a little while. I'm okay right now, but it'll get chillier soon, right? That's when you need warm stuff the most.
[Gracie flits off of Asriel's head to get into his pack, rooting around for his own sewing kit. It's here, just...under all the fabric bits...]
Walter retrieved his own kit looking for a needle before he realised they were entirely gone. He turned to Doll, holding out his hand and asking for one. She pulled one out and gave it to him, allowing them to wet the end of some thread between his lips and push it through the eye.
"How much do you know about sewing?" He asked quietly. Doll picked up one of the stray fabric bits, inspecting the colour of it and putting it on her arm, as if to judge if she liked it or not. She nodded to Gracie, pointing at the fabric. Could she keep this?
[Gracie nods. Go right ahead! Asriel has too many scraps. Way too many. So many. She finally retrieves Asriel's sewing kit and hands it to him, and he thanks her softly.]
Um, I know some stitches now...sometimes the thread gets tangled before I can pull it through the holes, though, so...I don't think I know them super well.
[Let's get out the needle and some thread. He doesn't think to wet the end of it, though, just...futilely attempts to get it through the hole, but it just won't go.]
Walter couldn't help a smile. It reminded him of being in the Wish House, but not a moment of sadness or isolation, shockingly. The few times he could interact with the other orphans was teaching the younger ones how to sew. It was almost a tradition, for the few teenagers who survived childhood at the Orphanage to teach their younger fellows how to do something so domestic, mostly because the priests were busy instructing them in the faith or taking care of matters outside the forest. And the guards hired to watch other them would prefer to just hit them rather than actually teach them anything.
"Try wetting the end." He instructed, trying a small knot at the end of his thread.
Doll thanked Gracie and took some of her pins out, so she could use them to pin the fabric to her instead. She wrapped it around her wrist, like a bracelet and chuckled to herself. Now she needed a matching one!
[But since Walter suggested it, Asriel gives it a try, putting the end of the thread under his tongue for a brief second to wet it before attempting. This time, the thread goes through the eye no problem!]
Whoa...
[As if sensing that might be what Doll wanted to try, Gracie offers her a few other fabric scraps. What do you think about these, hm?]
"It's easier." Kept all the tiny thread ends together so they didn't snag on the eye. Walter pulled out some fabric of his own. He didn't have as much as Asriel and it was in longer strips. he lines up two pieces, making sure they were equal before pushing the needle through and pulling it smoothly out the other side, letting the thread slide through the newly made holes until the knot caught. He checked to see that Asriel had done the same before going on.
Doll gasped when offered other fabrics. She picked one and fixed it to her other wrist, showing off her 'bracelets' gleefully. She looked so good! Then she paused and considered Gracie. The ghost picked up some purple fabric and offered it to Gracie. "This would match your flower and you." She suggested. Thankfully Doll knew better than to try and pin it to Gracie - that would hurt the little Fairy-type - instead wrapping it around her shoulders like a cape and using a safety pin as a brouch.
Y-Yeah! Wow, I wish I knew this last month...it would've made making all that stuff a lot easier.
[He laughs to himself, a little embarrassed that he hadn't known, but hey, you can't know everything. He picks up a couple stray scraps Gracie and Doll hadn't commandeered and starts to stitch them together - into what, he doesn't know yet, but he looks happy doing it, so hey, it might turn out to be something.
Gracie bobs and smiles. "Thank you! I didn't think of that!" she says, and considers the pin that now held it in place. It's great, sure, but what if it poked her? She knows she doesn't have Doll's constitution for these just by looking at her. "Do you think the humans can make it stay together with their string?"]
"I bet they can! Hold on-!" Doll beamed, turning and grabbing Walter's sleeve.
"...It's an easy thing to miss." It seemed to be something everyone had to be taught. Walter hadn't realised it until he was taught after all. But he was interrupted by Doll tugging on him, excitedly pointing at Gracie and her little cape. Walter frowned, leaning forward to look it over and try to figure out what Doll wanted as she cackled to him.
"You...want me to take this off?" "No, make it!" Doll took his hand and tapped the needle against the fabric around her. Walter tried to guess again. "You want me to make it fit her...?" Doll nodded and giggled eagerly. Walter turned to Asriel.
[Asriel watches the exchange with surprise, not having noticed how quickly Gracie had made friends with one of Walter's Pokemon - but it makes him smile. After all, it was only right that Pokemon make friends with each other, too. At Walter's request, he nods.]
Yeah, of course! If that's what they'd like.
[It was better they ask Walter anyway, Asriel...wouldn't be able to make it look neat at all.]
"...come here." Walter murmured softly, gently curled a hand behind Gracie to bring her closer. He wrapped the fabric over her tiny shoulders, thinking. Her head was too large to simply sew it together and slip it onto her shoulders. He hummed, looking through his supplies. She was so small...
He picked up his kit and looked through it. "Do you have any small buttons? I think I can make it button up, here." He showed Asriel what he intended to do. With a small button, it could function like a cape for her.
Doll looked very smug, chuckling. "Told you he'd do it!"
"Do you know how to sew these on?" Even as he asked he turned slightly, so Asriel would be able to see what he was doing. It would be fiddly work admittedly because of Gracie's small size, but it was just a stud at the end of the day. If he attempted to make a more formal cape then it would have taken a lot more effort, probably more than he cared to invest in a garment for a Pokemon.
He carefully took them from Asriel and placed them where they would go, reaching for his kit to grab a pin. Doll giggled again and pulled one out of herself, giving them to Walter and waving off his murmured thanks.
ah don't worry! :)

Um, I might have a snap thingie...hold on!
[Asriel starts to search through his kit, and sure enough, he pulls out a tiny plastic bag of sewable press-studs. He holds them out to Walter.]
These're smaller than buttons - they'll work better for her, 'cause she's so little.

[It was just a small detail of his clothes at home, but it's something he remembers, among all the other little things he knows about the Underground.
For Walter's benefit, Gracie stays quite still to let Walter do his work.]
...Thank you very much, Mister Walter.
