[ Hello! You have reached: "Walter Sullivan". Unfortunately they cannot answer the phone right now. Leave a message after the beep and they will return your call. ]
That is true. I'm surprised people who are not in Rocket are not more angry about me having been involved with them.
I am not surprised. About Wrath's behaviour. I wouldn't be appearing regardless - he would hand me back over to them.
[ He should just dump any concerns or cares about Wrath and his well-being but...it was not as easy to walk away from as he had once imagined it would be. ]
what, for being involved with the criminal organization for babies?
I'm sure if you go talk to some law and justice types they'll get mad at you
Anyway, he might. or he might not. it's hard to say.
If one of us tried to escape from the group we both came from back in our world our master would send the rest of us to hunt them down and bring them back. They'd get killed enough times to stay dead or maybe tortured and then sealed in a box for a few hundred years as an example to the rest of us.
so I guess it depends on if that's what he thinks would happen to you if he brought you back and if he'd actually go through with it. or on what he thinks would happen to him if he DIDN'T.
he didn't try to come after me or lust when he first showed up and it turned out we were traitors.
I see. You're not human, in your world. I think I remember you looking...different. Is Wrath the same?
The Order did similar things. If we ran away, we would be thrown into the prison cells and tormented. It was as an example and, to teach us the consequences of our actions. Team Rocket's punishments are weak compared to what the Order and your master would do, so that does not worry me. I'm more concerned that they would take my Pokemon from me, and what they would do to them.
Wrath was a 'field agent'. He stole Pokemon for them. I was a technician. I've seen what happened to the Pokemon they take.
I see. So you were not ghosts but, you had died. [ This is very interesting. He is definitely curious about what they were, but he's more concerned about Wrath and their standing. ]
I was aware of the 'team thing' with him. I tried to ask him about it before I left, and he became... frustrated, when I questioned it.
It reminds me of when I was younger. I doubt he will turn on Team Rocket, unless they are directly cruel to him which they will not be. They do not compare to the Order in that regard.
Right. I've heard people say it's more like things called zombies or golems, not like ghosts at all really.
[But yeah, Wrath is more pressing at the moment.]
No, as far as he's concerned, they're treating him like gold, and whatever they do is practically rainbows and sunshine.
They're not killing, they're not starting wars or anything like what our master required of us.
They don't torture him. One of our powers was that we would heal instantly from any injury, even death. Our master used that to its full advantage if we screwed up. Or were disloyal in any way.
Loyalty and being useful was how we survived. And he hadn't even been in the world more than a few weeks when she got hold of him.
He looks older than he actually is. We're born at the age the human died, without most of the memories. I'd say he's...four, maybe.
[ Walter took it all in. Wrath being four...he mentally revisited Wrath's behaviour and suddenly a lot of things make sense. Hearing of their treatment...he suddenly felt like the world had narrowed down to the words on the screen. Thankfully, Armilla flutters down to his side.
He wants to say something. Most people would say 'sorry'. But he knows that it's not the right word, and he doesn't know how to even begin with that. ]
I didn't realise he was so young, but it explains a lot. As does what else you told me... It sounds a bit like the Order. But, we could die. A lot of us 'disappeared'. It wasn't just for disobedience. If we questioned them, or did not read the scriptures well, or if it would please God, we would be sent to the water prison.
I understand why Wrath finds comfort with Team Rocket. Had I been a child, I would have been the same. But as I told Wrath, there is nothing they can offer me that I cannot obtain for myself. And aside from him, I would not trust any of them in any context.
[And hearing what Walter's saying...yeah, that lines up. Both with some of the things he's heard from Heather and what he'd seen of Walter as a child those few times.]
I ran into you as a child on a few of those weekends, you reminded me of him. Sort of. You were quieter.
[It's hard to picture that little kid doing...most of the things that Wrath does. But the resemblance had been in the wariness, the bafflement towards any measure of kindness. But Envy's not about to let the conversation dwell on what happened to them, he doesn't like to talk about it at the best of times with his most trusted friends. If Walter hadn't gone through something similar, if the context wasn't needed, he wouldn't have said anything at all.]
I'm not saying you shouldn't have left team loser, I'm just saying that Wrath doesn't take to "traitors" well and there's a reason for that. If you're not on his team, he thinks of it like betraying him just as much as betraying them, because that's what was put in his head from almost the day he was born. And as far as he's concerned he can't be friends with you anymore like he wants to. Not without punishment. So he thinks he's lost someone important and he's pissed and wants to blame SOMEONE but let me tell you we did NOT ever blame the master for a thing, she made sure we'd blame each other. So it's you.
but hey when he showed up here he found out right away that I was a filthy traitor to our actual old master and I think he wanted me dead for a while but look at us now
I didn't expect him to want to be friends to me. I knew how loyal he was. I had tried before, to ask him about it. He became angry and upset, and refused to answer my questions.
...You had a relationship with him prior to being here. I first met him in Team Rocket. He found me trying to navigate the base, and decided to follow me around with one of his Pokemon. It became...it became what we were. I don't expect him to forgive me, or to want my company.

I apologise, if the size of the flock is a problem. I do not know if Heather explained everything about what had happened.
...How is Wrath?

Wrath's been making a lot of upset pointed comments about traitors
I wouldn't come around here anytime soon unless you feel like getting bitten

He's not gonna be thinking about that. He's thinking about how he's upset you're a traitor and how he has to be loyal.
I'm not sure if you noticed but loyalty to a team is kind of a THING with Wrath

I didn't expect Alessa to forgive me either.

It depends on whether you want to give up on going back to being on good terms with him or not. It's not exactly impossible, is all I'm saying.

I don't want him to be angry with me forever. But I expect him to be.
