She was killed by a bad person...and this is Walter! [ He leaned on Walter and tilted the Gear to show him. Walter watched the Cubones quietly, as Assumption happily chattered on. ]

He's my trainer! He helped look after me when I was sad and taught me how to be strong. So when Henry tried to hurt him, I protected him. And then I evolved!

[The Cubone look horrified and all huddle together.]

That's your trainer?

It was! And he is! [ Assumption nodded. It had been scary! But now...well, he was a confident, happy Marowak. Thanks to Walter! ]

But it's all good now. He looks after me, and I look after him. We're really strong together! When I was small, he used to carry me around!

I'm strong! And I've been in lots of fights but that's mostly with other Pokemon. I've only fought Henry when it comes to humans.

[ He smiled and leaned into Walter, who was stroking his skull idly. ]

I evolved after I protected Walter from Henry. We went to these islands and there was a special energy there, like God was watching over me. And because I'd proven myself worthy, I evolved like this!

Have you won lots of battles?

[They tap their clubs against their heads thoughtfully.]

Islands?

God?

Worthy?

I have! And I fought lots of Gym Leaders. [ At their questions, he just smiles ]

The islands are far away from here. And God is like, a special Mom who watches over everyone. And being worhty means you're good enough for something!

[They all make a very impressed noise.

Behind them, he can see the Marowak parents approach to listen too.]

I've been a lot of places with Walter. And I've seen a lot of things. And I can't wait to see more!

[The Marowak nod in greeting and sit as their children chatter among themselves about the cool other Marowak.]

You are special. Fire blessed we heard. Your trainer is good to you?

Very good. [ Assumption nodded and shifted to stand on the floor. He tapped his born against the Halo on his skull, causing it to ignite. With a spin both ends were alight in ghostly flames. ]

You like in the wild without a trainer...is it safe? What's that like?

[The gather Cubone make a series of impressed noises and begin trying to unsuccessfully set their own club alight.]

Not always safe. You have to be strong to protect yourself. And others. But it's our life. We have always been this way. We enjoy it.

[ Assumption watches them fondly, as does Walter. What sweet creatures. ]

I'm glad! It doesn't sound too different to live with a trainer. We have to be strong, to protect him too. And Walter's very nice. He gives me poffins and teaches me things, and lets me draw with him.

It sounds like you've made yourself a good home and family.

I do. [ Assumption snuggled into Walter's side, who smiled softly and touched his skull. ]

...Do you guys know Diana very well then? She's the human with the PokeGear.

Diana? [Several of them look upwards and Diana's voice is heard offscreen.]

We've only met her today. She is fine. Her and the other one have been kind to the young ones. They've not been chasing us or trying to capture us.

She's okay for a human. Sometimes she does things that annoys Walter though.

[ Assumption wasn't oblivious to Diana's 'weird' behaviour and he knew Walter so well he could easily read his stoic expressions to know how he felt most of the time. ]

[The Marowak look at each other, unsure why Assumption is telling them this. Their children meanwhile, are approaching Diana to poke at her legs.]

Is that something we should be concerned about?

No, not really. [ He shrugged. At his side Walter tapped his skull. ] It was really nice meeting you all though!

[The little Cubone all suddenly gather back on the screen, chirping at Assumption.] You're leaving? Where you going?

Walter wants his PokeGear back, so I have to say goodbye. [ Sure enough, Walter was lifting the Gear to get a better look again. Assumption did jump up by his side again, but was respecting that Walter wanted to use it. ]

Where is the Safari Zone, Diana?

[The Cubone wave tiny little paws and call goodbye in childish voices before they see Walter. They all blink at him then smile and start chirping ~~adorably~~ in greeting.

Diana keeps the camera on them as she speaks.]

You know Cianwood? Well, on the other side there's this road and path that lead to the Safari Zone. Route 47 and 48, I think? You gotta use Surf though, but you'll already have that.

I went to Cianwood to obtain the gym badge, but I did not go past it.

[ Well...looks like he had missed an opportunity. ]

Well, you've got Fly right? You could always come by when you've got some free time. It's not a long trip. About 3 days maybe? And then you can always Fly back too.

[The Cubone continue to call to him, waving their little clubs and bouncing up and down.]

I bet they'd like to meet Assumption in person.

[ Unfortunately, he was not intending to stay in Johto much longer, and he didn't have the time to spare for such a trip. He only hummed. Assumption wagged his tail, beaming at the Cubones calls to him and answering them. ]
